file system stop error

My Father Bought a new computer, 2003 XP home edition,
wants to upgrade it to Professional edition. He has 2002
XP Pro disk. Tried to upgrade it with the 2002 disk. Gets
a stop error, 0x00000024. Is there a way to fix this, or
does he have to buy a new XP Pro?

Thanks,

Ema

Microsoft does not support upgrading Windows XP Home Edition with
Service Pack 1 (SP1) to Windows XP Professional without SP1. Does
your version of XP Pro have SP1? It should say so on the CD. Also,
make sure you are selecting the "Upgrade" option during setup, and not
"New Installation".
