Problem upgrading Pro (Original) from Home (SP2)

Is it possible to upgrade SP2 Home to Pro (No updates)? My VAIO has the Home
SP1 defaulted. But I keep getting the error STOP 0x00000024. I have tried
its suggestions on antivirus and chkdsk! Any assistance is appreciated!

Only if the Pro CD is SP2 as well.

If you mean by original the first version of Pro that shipped three years
ago, then not without some modifications. However, you can use that version
and the download file for service pack 2 to create a slipstreamed cd that
incorporates what is on the cd with the updates and service packs through
SP2 and then use that cd to update from Home SP2 to Pro SP2.

If that is what you want to do post back for instructions.

If someone is offering to sell you an original XP Pro and you are not into
doing a little extra work, then buy XP Pro Upgrade with SP2 at your local
computer outlet.

Colin,

How do I create a slipstreamed cd. I bought a hardcopy of XP pro that is
older than the factory installed XP Home and installer won´t let me install
it without first wiping out my harddisk.
Regards,

Download Autosteamer from http://www.autopatcher.com/autostreamer.html and
install it.

Download the Network version of SP2 to your desktop from:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...BE-3B8E-4F30-8245-9E368D3CDB5A&displaylang=en
(paste into your browser address bar, removing any spaces)

Run Autostreamer. Put the cd in your drive. Autostreamer should just find
it.

Tell autostreamer where the SP2 download is (desktop).

Tell autostreamer to put the resulting .iso file on the desktop.

When autostreamer finishes, copy the .iso to a cd with Roxio or Nero. It is
already bootable, so don't use the Roxio or Nero "make bootable" function.
