Fax recieves but doesn't ring or print

Neil

Running WinXP Pro

The windows fax program is set up in the normal way to
plave ringin.wav on incoming calls and print to my local
printer.

The fax automatically answers, as it is set to do, and it
recieves the fax - but no ringing and it doesn't print.

I have also tried running the fax monitor at the same
time as a fax is incoming and it shows no activity -
not "receiveing" as you would expect.

The fax console itself shows the activity - very strange

Help!

Thanks for your reply.

No, I only have one modem - that's the strange thing!

I tried running msconfig and disabling all startup items, then I opened the
Fax console and it worked. Ringin + monitor + print!!!

So I deduced it must be some other software taking over. I discovered
Symantec OLFax that had been installed as part of Outlook!?!

I tried removing this with the Office setup, but it didn't get rid of the
OLFax in the registry.

I deleted everything to do with OLFAX from the registry and all seems to
work for now.

What is OLFax? And how can one turn it off without resorting to editing the
registry?

Neil.
