Failure of XP Boot Disks - Need help! Please?

I am locked out of Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 on my Dell Inspiron
6000 laptop due to the windows\system32\config\system file being "corrupt or
missing".

The recovery console using the original setup cd does not help me because of
an issue with it recognizing the administrator password, as Microsoft is
aware of and describes here:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/308402

The repair install method using the original setup cd will not work either,
as repair is not given as an option.

So I bought a floppy drive and created a set of Windows XP Home Edition boot
disks to boot up the laptop. Everything seems to go well until I get to disk
#6. Then it goes to a blue screen that states: "A problem has been detected
and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. If this
is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart your
computer... Stop OxOOOOOO7E."

Maybe this is due to the difference in XP versions, but there are no boot
disks out there for Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 that I know of!

If you know of boot disk files for the Media Center Edition, or if you know
what I can do to make these boot disks for the Home Edition work, or if you
can help me solve my original problem of not being able to use the recovery
console.. I will be eternally grateful.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Update: Now I've also tried the XP Professional boot disks and I get the same
error message Stop OxOOOOOO7E.

In recovery,if no password has ever been entered thru the "administrator"
in xp,then press enter key.If one exists, why not use it,the kb article is
based
on system prep.If problem still exist, boot to xp cd not mcxp,at info page
press
r for recovery (ignore text if its giving negative info) simply press
enter key,
or type:DiskPart In DiskPart,delete the partition(s),create one,press ESC
key,
type:EXIT or shutdown pc,on start up,install xpmce reinstall os.As for the
floppy disks, pitch all of them, they are useless in this area....

Thanks for the reply.

If I understand correctly, you're saying I need to reinstall the OS. I am
hoping to find a repair so I don't lose all the applications and files on
there.

The administrator password is definitely blank, but hitting enter in
recovery console doesn't work.
