I downloaded the small software from Ezlan for optimising the download &
upload speed. I follow the instructions changing the numbers and the speed
has greatly improved. The file used to take 15 min to downlaod now only
takes 8 min. I just wonder if there are any impacts on other performance or
configurations that I am not aware of. Below are the changed numbers:
MTU - Cable = 1500. DSL = 1492. ISDN=1322. DialUp = 576.
Tcp Receive - For Broadband = 256960. For DialUp = 65392.
Window Scaling - Yes
Time Stamping - No
Selective Acks - Yes
Path MTU Discovery - Yes.
Black Hole - NO
Max Duplicate - 2
TTL - 64

If that is so good, why is Windows not defaulted to those settings? Any
comment?

Hi
Windows XP was conceived before the Boom of End-User using variety of
Internet broadband connection.
Vista does it automatically.
Oh Boy time passes fast ;).
