The Nokia IP55 is a DSL/Cable Router with a 4 port 10/100 ethernet switch. It is NOT a hub.
Ethernet switches and hubs are NOT the same. All platforms on the LAN side need to to have
the MTU set at 1500. If your ISP uses PPPoE then the WAN interface of the Router needs to
be set to 1492. If your ISP uses DHCP then the Router's WAN MTU needs to be set to 1500.
Make sure each platform's NIC advanced settings are set to 100Mb/s Full-Duplex if they are
directly connected to the Nokia's LAN ports.
An excellent utility for setting the MTU is DrTCP from DSL reports at:

| I have an ex server running Win2K Pro. Download speeds will not go above
| 0.5MB even though my connection (from Home) is a 1MB one. I have a
| seperate pc (also an ex server) running win2kServer that will download
| at the correct speeds.
| Both machines were clean builds but I cannot find a sloution to this
| problem. The one I am having the problem with is an HP Netserver LC3
| P3/500 using 512RAM with a 10/100 network card running through a Nokia
| IP55 DSL Hub. I have tried swapping ports/NIC's/Patch leads/altering
| MTU settings in registry to 1400 from 576. Any help would be
| appreciated,
| Thanks
