Zyxel 660H hates TCP but loves UDP !?

Hi

I got a Zyxel ADSL PPPoE 660H modem that have started to hate TCP protocol! The speed for TCP have dropped from 6.88Mbps to a awfull low speed of
118kbps (this is the recieve speed, and theoretical max is around 8Mbps). UDP protocol on the other hand is not affected or very little (6.78Mbps ->
6.39Mbps).

A lot of sites don't show up right and there are missing pictures...

The drop in speed was a slow process over about 2 weeks.

Got a Netgear firewall/router between the modem and a XP Pro SP2 machine. No changes have been done to the hardware setup, only some kbxxx
(ms-updates) have been added.

I have done:

1: check for virus/trojans/worms etc. (no found, mcafee+adaware+spybot)

2: tested w/o netgear firewall (no change, using ms-fw)

3: checked MTU size in both computer and netgear firewall (little change here)*

4: tested two other machines (both xp sp2, and one a fresh install) (no change)

*MTU firewall default 1500 won't make connection to ex. ms-update, but 1492 will do it. I know why and have tested even lower MTU sizes but it won't
restore the TCP speed but the number of unshowed pictures and aborted pages drops noticeable.

Help? any ideas?

TIA Andreas

update: Zyxel 660H fail on tcp when the firewall is not responding to
ping (or the computer).

Why?

update: reason = ISP error in modemstack.
