explorer question

Whenever I open explorer there is a loong pause while it automatically opens
up the "\documents and settings\username" folder. I have never in my life
opened up explorer with the intent to look in that folder. Is there any way
to make explorer not default to showing the folder as open? I think it
would speed up starting explorer.

Adam,

How are you opening Windows Explorer? (a shortcut, or using WinKey + E
combination, or by typing the command-line in Run?)

I right click start, then choose explore. Briefly tried the stuff below but
didnt seem to have any effect. Maybe need to read them again when I'm more
awake. It just seems to want to open up with focus in the "start menu"
folder.

Yes, it launches the "Start menu" folder and that's normal. Because you're
clicking the "explore" context menu option from the Start button, it opens
with the default focus on the "current" location, which in this case is the
Start menu.
