Event Viewer error message

WinXP freezes during operation at (seemingly) random times, in a new
installation of WinXp on a new motherboard and a new 80Gb hard drive. The
application window of the Event Viewer provided the following message after
a system freeze-up.

Event Type: Error
Event Source: EventSystem
Event Category: (50)
Event ID: 4609
Date: 7/8/2004
Time: 4:43:56 PM
User: N/A
Computer: BOB
Description:
The COM+ Event System detected a bad return code during its internal
processing. HRESULT was 8007043C from line 44 of
d:\nt\com\com1x\src\events\tier1\eventsystemobj.cpp. Please contact
Microsoft Product Support Services to report this error.

The link shown in the message yields nothing but a "We're sorry, there is no
additional information about this error." Another message was:

Description:
Volume Shadow Copy Service error: Unexpected error calling routine

Can anyone give me a clue as to what is causing the freeze-ups from the
above messages?
