I cannot open any items in the event log. When I double click on an item,
nothing happens.

Any ideas, anyone

The event logs are fine, I can view the event log from other machines on
the network.

The first time I double click an event after loading the event viewer, a
dialog appears very briefly before disappearing.
After that, nothing happens at all when double clicking.
