Application Log missing in Event Viewer

B

Brian Hoops

When I open the event viewer, I can see all the entries
under Security, System, DNS, etc. however nothing appears
under the Application Log. It lists 2337 events ... if I
click on the pane it appears to select an individual
row ... however nothing is available to view or open.

Any ideas on where to start to be able to view the log?
Thanks.

The temporary fix;
You might try changing the file properties to "Overwrite as needed"

Then; Control Panel|Administrative Tools|Services|Event Log Service|General,
set the "Startup Type:" to "Disabled" restart the pc, then delete (or move)
the corrupt *.evt file(s) from %windir%\system32\config then set the Event
Log Service "Startup Type:" back to "Automatic", restart for effect.

The more permanent fix;
