Application Event Log Invisible

When I open the event viewer on my win2k pro desktop I
cannot see application events. If I click on security
events or system events first I can see them but as soon
as I click n the application log none are visible. Also,
if I click on the application log first the others are
also invisible. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
