Cant view logs in log file

When I open up the event log, it by default goes to the system log and
shows that there are 755 events. When I attempt to look at the
application log, it says that there are 2500 event; however, it
displays none of them. When I then attempt to click back to the system
log, it then shows zero events and has a blank screen. Once I close
event viewer and reopen it, I am able to view the 755 events in the
system log again, but still unable to view the application log? What
gives??? Any suggestions???
Thanks,

David

Change the log settings so they're set to a reasonable max size and
'overwrite as needed' for each.
