Error message

I keep getting an error message, either when I'm working in Word or when I'm
trying to send an email with Outlook (which uses Word as the email editor). I
have Word 2003 (Windows XP) installed and the error message is winword.exe
00074c17 - however, this doesn't appear on any of the search engines that
I've tried. Does anyone know what it means or how I can fix it?

What is it that you are doing at the time that provokes the failure?

I think it must have been a problem with the normal template - just deleted
all the temporary files (including one for normal.dot, which was still there
even though everything else was closed) and it seems to be working now.
