I had the same problem, it took me all day but I finally figured out
how to get it to work!
The file that is causing it to say "Error occurred while launching the
setup (0x80040707)" is the file MMINSTALL.DLL here are the steps to
get around this message.
1. create a folder(I'll call it folder(x)) called musicmatchsetup in
c:\programfiles (or anywhere on the hard drive.
2. Download the complete setup file from musicmatch and put in the
file above.
3. Then right click that setup file from musicmatch and hit extract
to... then extract it to folder(x).
4. right click and hit arrange by type, this will put all the .DLL
files together, then find the culprit MMINSTALL.DLL and DELETE IT, BUT
LEAVE IT IN THE RECYCLE BIN!
5. Then find the Setup.exe and click on it. It should get past the
part where the error pops up.. as soon as it stops, before you
continue the install, go to the recycle bin.
6. Find the MMINSTALL.DLL AND RIGHT CLICK AND RESTORE IT..
7. Then continue setup as usual!
It worked great for me, everything works fine and I have had no
problems, of course it took me a while to figure all this crap out by
myself.
