Install Shield Engine

Windows XP Home SP.2

I am presently having problems when updating my BlackICE Firewall. I get
the error message " The InstallSheild Engine (iKernel.exe) could not be
launched. No such interface supported."

IKernel.exe and associated folders/files are located on my computer in
C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Engine\6\Intel 32.

I have tried all the System Restore Points without success. Can I repair
this problem, if so how?

Sounds like the firewall is blocking Internet access to the update mechanism
which is iKernel.exe. Check the current firewall configuration and you should
find the file listed with access set to "Deny".

Hi Scrubber,
I have uninstalled or disabled all Firewall (including MS), AntiVirus &
Ad-Aware programmes etc. but the problem persists. Is this InstallShield
programme part of Windows XP or has it been installed by another software
programme? I have been to the www.installshield.coml website where others
(on their Forum) are complaining of the same problem, as far as I can see to
date nobody has offered a solution
