Epson Scanner Perfection 1200U Compatibility w/Windows XP

I've just received a hand-me-down scanner and have only the software
compatible with Windows 95/98. I searched the web and have only found
information on how to upgrade drivers but nothing on doing a clean
install with the software for XP. I cannot locate the correct software
for XP on the web, only the drivers. I've tried installing the
software on disc and then updating the driver. This seems to add the
driver and entirely delete the software, which will not obviously allow
me to run the scanner. Help! Thank you!

Yes however I've been doing further research on their site and have
just found that only Windows 98 is compatible with this scanner even
though they list available drivers for Windows XP, Windows 2000,
Windows Me, Windows 98. Huh.

They list a driver update for both win2k and winxp, whether this requires
the earlier version driver installed I cannot say.
Since they list the driver it must be compatible.

I don't know this particular scanner or whether there are available drivers
for XP, but the place to look for them is on Epson's site.

If Epson has drivers , just download what's there and follow Epson's
instructions for using the downloaded file.
