Edit button in Picture and Fax Viewer

What does it require to get the "edit" button in Picture
and Fax Viewer to
function?

I have associated the JPEG file types with a program for
the edit command.
When I right click a file in explorer I then get the
option edit, and it
opens the picture in the program. Now, if I use the edit
button in Picture
and Fax Viewer it only closes the picture and nothing
more happens. How
should this be fixed?

Nobody knows. Seems like this feature evaporates and no fix so far. Best I
can tell you is right click on the picture and click on Edit and the picture
will open in Paint.

See the thread "right-click to edit?" a little below
where a Picture It! MVP suggests a method to assign a
program to the edit function.

Is it really so that this does not work at all in Picture
and Fax Viewer in XP anyway?

This is different, it is for changing the default editing software (Paint)
to some other editing software, when you right click and click on Edit.
This is not the problem you described. Your problem is when you click on the
Edit icon (same as Ctrl + E) the picture does not open at all. Instead of
clicking on this icon, right click on the picture and click on Edit and the
picture will open in Paint. If you want it to open in some other photo
editing software, right click on the picture and click on Open with, a list
of photo editing software installed on your computer will open, just select
the one you want.

Please read the reply. The introduction is:
"How to open your choice of image editors when
clicking the Edit button on the Windows Picture
and Fax Viewer screen."

According to this it should be the exact same key for
right click > edit and
the Edit button in Win Picture Viewer.

I guess the Edit button is not working anyway in XP. It's
just strange that
he describes it like this if it's not working.

If you know the answer, why ask the question?
