Can't PREVIEW jpegs, bitmaps on Windows Picture & Fax Viewer

I used to be able to preview jpeg, bitmap files on my Windows Picture & Fax
Viewer by just double-clicking on the file. Now, when I do this, my screen
just blinks and nothing happens. I have installed other editing software
which might have caused this to happen? I don't really have the faintest
idea!

How do I preview my digital photos on Windows Picture & Fax Viewer again?!
Please help.

Try the following:

go to...Start / Run and type:

"REGSVR32 SHIMGVW.DLL"
(without the quotes)(Yes, there's
a space between 2 and S)

Click...OK.

A dialog box should report the following:

"DllRegisterServer in SHIMGVW.DLL succeeded"
