Picture and fax viewer will not open

Windows picture and fax viewer will not open jpeg files on my computer.
Under file options, this is the default program for opening jpegs. When I
try to "open with" the viewer, nothing happens. If I try to preview, nothing
happens. If I try to set one of files as wallpaper, nothing happens and I
get an error chime. The files are all in folders contained within the "My
Pictures" folder. The folde is not shared.

I have installed Canon camera software, in cluidng ZoomBrowser EX,
PhotoRecord, PhotoStitch. I removed this software, hoping this would solve
the problem and it did not.

I checked the properties, and all files in the folder were set as read only.
I cancelled this setting, but this had no effect.

I'm baffled and would appreciate any help!

Try the following.
Click on Start and click on Run and type the following in the textbox:
REGSVR32 SHIMGVW.DLL
and press the Enter key.
Note that there is a space between ...32 and SHI...
This should take a second to run and you should get a success message.
Then double click on a jpg and see if it opens.

Thanks, that fixed it. I had forgotten about having previously unregistered
that .dll because of the exploit a while back. Thanks very much, I was
completely baffled.

Thank you very much even i was not able to open my Pictures, Using this Command
Start>Run>type REGSVR32 SHIMGVW>DLL, i was able to open the picture.
