I have a new Acer laptop with xp64. Can I use my xp restor discs from my old
Acer laptop to load old xp home to a partition on my new machine?

No. That license is permanently tied to your old
Acer computer and cannot be transferred.

Thanks, I was afraid of that. I read that I need to install the old xp
first, then the xp64. I will buy a full version of xp but can I use the
restore discs that came with my new Acer to reload xp64?
