Display Problem with IE^

My IE6 will not display JScript buttons. Only displays
gray indentation. Pointer does not change to hand upon
hovering over button hotspot. I have already checked
everything on MS Knowledge Base Article - 283807.

This is a new custom built computer running XP Pro. Any
advice is much appreciated

Hover buttons are Java applets. WinXP does not come with Java.

Understand that because of a court decision Microsoft will stop all Java
