Device Manager: Serial (Code 24)

Hello,

In Device Manager under "Non-Plug and Play Drivers" node, the item "Serial"
marked with the exclamation mark. The device status reads as follows:
<QUOTE>
This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all
its drivers installed.(Code 24).
</QUOTE>

Is something wrong with my PC? Or Is it because I presently don't have any
serial devices, and hence ignore it safely?

Thanks,

When you boot to Safe Mode, it will automatically run the Serial
Port driver ( Even though the Com Ports are disabled in BIOS).
So on a subsequent, normal boot the Serial Drive will stay in place
but not be active. You can Right Click it and choose Uninstall.
