Deleted "workgroup" network, whoops! now????

I have an original CD of Windows 2000 a friend gave me. It was used on a
cP3 computer, which is wirelessly connected to a home network.

To share files, it was logged onto the regular network I set up for the
home network, and it also had a network called 'workgroup". Well there is
not network other than the home network. For some reason, when on the P3
with win 2000, & logging into a shared folder on the regular home network,
it took like 30 seconds from the vtime3 you clicked till you were in -
same for leaving the folder (shared folder is on my XP computer). And one
other computer, a P3 win 98 is also on the home network..

Anyway, I was thinking why do I need this network called "workgroup"?
Maybe that's why it takes 30 seconds... So I deleted it. It also deleted
the link to my computer and the rest of the home network, Internet
connecting still works fine, I'd just like to be able to share a files
area to the win 2000 P3.

So I am assuming then that all win 2000 computers are on a network called
"workgroup"? Or what? Someone please tell what I need to do to share
files to & from at least one folder on the darned computer./..

If you aren't joined to a domain, all computers should be in the same
workgroup if you want to easily share data, and all user accounts/passwords
should exist identically on all computers.

A workgroup doesn't really 'exist' in its own right - you can't delete one,
you can just change the name of whatever workgroup you're in. Every
non-domain Win2k/XP computer belongs to a workgroup by default - there's no
way to have one with no workgroup or domain defined in the network
properties.
