Default Printer keeps changing

My default printer keeps changing despite the printer I want having a higer
priority that other printers on my system. How do I stop this happening?

It's not always possible, some manufacturers write their drivers so that
their particular make and model of printer is always going to be the
default.

But in general, ensure that the printer you want as default is kept turned
on and with a permanent connection to the PC.
