Critical startup error

For some reason when I try to start my computer I get a screen telling me
that the computer has been shut down improperly and I can choose one of 5
options to start. However, no matter which option I choose, the computer will
start to load windows xp home edition then flash a blue screen with white
text for a split second and restart. I haven't the slightest of how to remedy
this problem except for trying to boot from the Windows XP disc and
unfortunately I have lost my copy. Any suggestions?

If you have tried 'Last Known Good Configuration' and booting into Safe Mode
without any luck, you will have to try a 'Repair' install of XP. Which
means that you will have to find your XP CD or purchase another one.

I have tried all the options and the result is the same. Is there any
possibility of using someone else's xp disc to boot up and get into my
windows? Or is a entire repair installation the only possible solution?

Hi

You won't be able to use anyone else's XP CD to boot into Windows. However
you 'may' be able use someone else's XP CD to perform a 'Repair' install. A
'Repair' install will leave your data files,programs and settings in place.
