Hello!

I have IE 6x but cannot get it to run. After reboot, it
will load a page and then crash, afterwards it will not
open at all. It says it must shut down and will do nothing
further.

What I've tried to fix it:
-Searched and removed all spyware
-probably foolishly downloaded a dll repair software
-set a restore point and hard deleted IE from my machine,
and copied in a working folder strucutre.

Miraculously, these have done nothing, I feel like I nuked
it still sputters at the same point.

It did not go bad after an install of software, so I can't
figure it.

If I have to reinstall windows to fix it, will I lose
bookmarks or applications?

Thanks!

Open the Internet Options applet in Control Panel
Uncheck "Enable third-party browser extensions" on the Advanced tab.
You may also have to reset your Home Page to about:blank

Then eliminate any scumware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.
