hello,
I am running windows xp professional, sp2 with auto updates.

Resently, when my computer returns from hibernate, I loose my internet
connection. (broadband)

at first I thougt it was from my ISP, but since then I have noticed that all
I have to to is re-start it and the connection is fine.

any idea how I can fix this?

thank you,
luis

PS,
I tried using windows to fix the problem, but that didn't work!

I had to wait for it to do it again, but here is what I meant:

when the computer returns from hibernate, I get a message on the taskbar
stating I have lost my connection.

If I right click on this, I get the options to:"disable, status or repair."

I tried repair, when I did so, a window opened with the title: "repairing
lost area connection",

a minute or two later, the same box stated that it didn't work,
it said: "windows could not finish fixing the problem bc the following could
not be completed: For assistance, contact the person who manages your
network."

if i turned the modem on/off, or disconnect it and reconnect it, no luck,
but if I resart the machine, if works fine!

the above suggestion didn't work, any other ideas?

thanks

I have exactly the same problem. My latest attempt to solve it is to
open the Control Panel,
select Administrative Tools\Computer Management\Services and
Applications\Services
then right-click DNS Client, select Properties then the Recovery tab.

There are options for what the computer should do if this service
fails. All were set at "Take no action". I have now set the first and
second failures to "Restart the service" and I will see if this solves
the problem.

I hope that this will work for me and also for you.

Best wishes!!
