Computer Freezing

I've been having a problem with my computer freezing for the past couple of
months and I was hoping you could help.

At first it always seemed to happen when I was running Azureus, this led me
to presume that the problem lay here and I tried to find out what the problem
might be from there support with no luck.

Recently I began to consider that it may be a problem with the Java JRE and
this seem to be proved when my computer froze when Azureus wasn't running but
the Java icon was down in the Notification Area so I guessed something had
used it. This has only happened once though.

In an attempt to avoid this problem I stopped using Azureus and changed to
µTorrent which is written in C++, but again the computer is freezing. This
would suggest that perhaps it's some sort of problem with using BitTorrent
but I had already used it for over a year before the problems arose and in
light of the computer freezing when neither µTorrent or Azureus was running
gives me suspicions about this.

There doesn't seem to be any pattern to the exact time it freezes. Sometimes
it can be a few minutes after I've opened up programs, othertimes it may take
a few hours, sometimes the computer can be on for around a day without any
sign of a problem.

I don't know for sure if the problem is with the OS itself but I was hoping
that someone here could at least give me a clue of where to start looking for
the cause of the problem (Logs etc.)

Check the registry for broken or damaged keys using Sytem Dianostic and
also check if any DirectX drives are damaged or drivers interfering.
