I used the "add/remove progams" in Win XP Home to get rid
of an unwanted program. It worked, but I still get an
icon in the notification bar. I want it and that entire
program gone. How do I do this.

A good registry cleaning program will help you. One like
JV16 power tools and then use the search the registry
option and type in the program you want and all the
entries will be revealed and then you can simply delete
them. You can also do this yourself but remember that some
programs are a real pain in the butt with secret and
hidden files that have a unique name unrelated to the
programs name so that they can keep it on the system.
go>start\run and type in regedit and then click edit then
find and now type in the program. When a highlighted entry
is shown then right click on it and delete it. Now click
edit and then find next. You may have to do this many many
times as the program could have multiple entries in the
registry. If it still shows in the system tray then
add\remove programs did not remove it(another tactic of
sypware\adware). I highly suspect this is spyware so
SpyBot Search and Destroy is free and the best
spyware\adware remover out there(in my opinion). Keep
smiling.
