Can't "wake" computer up from Standby with mouse or Keyboard

Have a one month old Dell Dimension with Windows XP Home Edition.

After only using it about one month I can still manually put it into Standby Mode from the shudown screen - i.e. where you have choice whether to have it Standby, Shutdown or Restart. It will no longer "awake" using either the mouse or keyboard. I have to press the power button to "wake" it up

Haven't been able to find a solution in the Microsoft Knowledge base. Article 266169 deals with Trubleshooting problems with Standby or Hibernate for Windows 2000 but I can't find anything to help solve the problem in Windows XP

I'd appreciate any suggestion

Open your Device Manager, right-click on your mouse and
select Properties. Click on the Power Management tab and
check "Allow this device to bring the computer out of standby".

You can do the same for your keyboard and other devices.

Thanks Carey. I'll give it a try. I don't have a USB Mouse, should this make any difference
