Can't see certain websites after loading AOL

P

Paul Kraemer

Hi,

I am running Windows XP Pro. I have a cable modem
connection to the Internet. It was working fine, but
then my brother loaded AOL software onto the PC. Now, I
am able to get onto some websites but not others. On the
sites that I can't get onto, I don't get an error
message - just a blank white page. This happens whether
I use Internet Explorer or AOL's browser. This happens
with several different sites, each of which I have
verified that I can get onto from another PC. I imagine
the AOL installation probably changed a security setting
on the PC, but I don't know what. If anyone could help
me out, I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks,
Paul

Cause: This can happen because of the incorrect settings
in Internet explorer.

In order to resolve the issue, I would suggest you to
Optimize the Internet Explorer Settings:

1. Start Internet Explorer , Click 'Tools' tab in the
Menu bar
2. Click on 'Internet Options' from the drop-down 'Tools'
tab.
3. Under the 'General' tab, click 'Delete Cookies'
button in the Temporary Internet Files section.
4. When asked to confirm, click OK.
5. Click 'Clear History'.
6. When asked to confirm, click OK.
7. Click 'Delete Files' button.
8. Select the Delete all offline content check box, and
then click OK.
9. Click 'Settings'.
10. Adjust The amount of disk space to use to 10 MB.
11. Click View Files.
12. When the View Files window appears, press CTRL+A to
select all files, and then press DELETE.
13. When asked to confirm, click Yes, and then close the
window.
14. Click OK to close the Settings dialog box.
15. Click the Security tab.
16. Click the Internet icon.
17. Click the Default Level button if available, and then
click Apply.
18. Click the Privacy tab.
19. Click the Edit button. If sites appear under Managed
Web sites: in the Per Site Privacy Actions window, click
Remove All, and then click OK.
20. Click the Default button if available, and then click
Apply.
21. Click the Connections tab.
22. For each item listed under Dial-up and Virtual
Private Network settings, do the following:
a. Select the item (connectoid), and then click
Settings.
b. Clear all of the checkboxes, and then click
OK.
23. Click LAN Settings.
24. Clear all of the checkboxes, and then click OK.
25. Click the Advanced tab.
26. Click Restore Default, and then click OK.

if the problem still persists then I would suggest you
to upgrade your Internet Explorer by following the link
given below. Please be Informed that the changes you make
in Internet Explorer are used by MSN software as well.

Visit
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/downloads/critical/ie6
sp1/default.mspx, and then click Internet Explorer 6
Service Pack 1 under Download center, and then click
Download.

Regards,

Ram.
