"Can't open this item" when I try open hotmail emails in outlook 2

Hi

I recently changed my hard drive and used Seagate Diskwizard to transfer the
data across to the new drive.

I now cannot open hotmail messages in Outlook 2003 and displays "Can't open
this item", it will open emails in my own folders on my hard drive though.

I have re-installed office, the auto installer appeared to be causing me
problems when trying to detect and repair, but the problem is still there.

I deleted the Hotmail account and then re-entered it, but I still have the
same problem.

The Office update system does not seem to be working for me either.

If I removed Outlook completely and re-installed it, would I lose all my
emails?
