can't get windows to start please help

OK here is what happened. first my internet explorer would not open it would load the home page then close itself out ever since then the pc has been slow! Then the computer was moved when it was reconnected xp would not start. I was told by dell to put the recovery disk in and use the command chkdsk r/ it gets to 75% complete then gives me this message the volume appears to contain one or more unrecoverable problems and then it just asks for another command please help

You need to replace the HDD. Hurry and do so while it is under warranty.
Also the command is probably "chkdsk /r."
