Can't Delete Large (23MB) Message from Inbox or Outbox

I have Outlook 2002 and created a message with screenprints. It never
appeared to leave my outbox but somehow generated a 23 MB falure message in
my in box. I ran scanpst which reported no errors, tried to delete both
messages in offline mode with no sucess. When I try and delete the message
from my outbox it returns the "unknown user interface error" dialog box. When
the recieved failure message is selected in my inbox outlook freezes, online
or offline. As a workaround I created a new pst file and mapped my pop3 yahoo
account to it. I still can't delete those messages from the original in and
out boxes even though those are no longer the active folders. Any ideas?
Thanks Sara

Here are the details of the error report after I send outlook during a
freeze cause by selecting the inbox message:

C:\DOCUME~1\sara\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERe797.dir00\OUTLOOK.EXE.mdmp
C:\DOCUME~1\sara\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERe797.dir00\appcompat.txt

There are other options listed here:

One of them is bound to correct your problem.

Thanks Brian, that is where I got the idea to create a new pst using the
following instructions:

Create a new pst-file; File-> New-> Outlook Data File...

Set this pst-file as your default delivery location in your Account
settings; Tools-> E-mail Accounts-> button Next

When you now restart Outlook your original pst-file will show up as the
secondary set of folders where should easily be able to remove the file from
or even the complete Outbox folder

Set the original pst-file as the default delivery location again and restart
Outlook; the Outbox folder will be recreated and will be empty.

Although it allows me to use outlook I still can do anything with the in and
out going messages stuck in the original inbox and outbox.

What is really odd is that even though these in and out boxes are no longer
the active pst files just selecting the old inbox causes the whole
application to freeze.

I have emptied my deleted and send folders for that pst file in case file
size was an issue.

I have checked out all the other references at the bottom of the article you
recommended and none of them seems to appy so if anyone else has any ideas
I'd love to hear them.

thanks.

How large is the old PST? Have yuo tried using the Inbox Repair Tool
(SCANPST.EXE) on it?

Did you compact the PST after emptying those folders?
