My IP 6600D has given me great service for quite a few years but recently something has changed.
I always buy compatible inks and have never had a problem with any of them not working, but my more recent problem is this.

When you click the cartridge into the printer head a little LED in the head used to light and the light would shine up through the cartridge showing all's well and it would flash to indicate when it's empty.

Now I am in the dark.
None of my more recent purchases will show this indication. There is just no light whichever ones I use. I have put used ones back in to check and the light returns, so it's a function of the cartridges not the print head.
I still have two that have not been changed recently that are lit up.

Can someone please tell me why this is happening? Is it a cut back by the cartridge maker not triggering the LED\?
I have tried several suppliers and it is not just one maker/supplier causing the problem, unless, of course, all replacements come from one source and just get re-branded.
Is there anything I can do to get this sorted?
For info, the ink levels still show on the screen, but the lights are very useful.

Thanks in advance.

ommon LED Issues and Solutions:
  • Power and Alarm Lamps Flash Alternately:
This usually signifies a more serious error. Refer to the "POWER Lamp and Alarm Lamp Flash Alternately" section in the printer's documentation for specific troubleshooting steps.

  • Alarm Lamp Lights:
This indicates an operator call error. Check the LCD for an error message and its corresponding solution.

  • Error Code 6A00:
This error suggests a problem with the purge unit. Try releasing the cartridge from its parking position, and if the issue persists, consider contacting Canon support or exploring replacement options.

  • Error Code 5B00:
This code can be addressed by turning the printer off, then back on while holding the STOP/RESET button and following a specific button sequence (described in the provided link), according to JustAnswer.
General Troubleshooting Steps:
  1. 1. Check the LCD:
The LCD screen displays error messages that provide specific guidance on how to resolve the problem.

  2. 2. Clean the Print Head:
If you're experiencing printing issues like white lines or missing colors, cleaning the print head can help. You can access the cleaning function through the printer's maintenance menu.

  3. 3. Replace the Waste Ink Absorber:
If the printer is displaying an alarm and the issue is related to ink, the waste ink absorber may need replacement.

  4. 4. Consult the Manual:
Refer to the printer's documentation for detailed instructions on specific error codes and troubleshooting procedures.
