cannot setup windows XP fax

I tried to setup Windows XP fax via Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs,
Add/Remove Windows Components, but every time it tries to copy certain files
from C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386 I get a message saying that it cannot
copy the files even though they are there. I tried directing it to copy the
files from C:\i386 but those seem to be older files. I tried it again letting
it copy those older files, but it still wouldn't work. Any ideas? Thank you.
