Windows XP fax won't install

When I go through Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs -> Add/Remove
Windows Components and get the Windows Components Wizard, I uncheck
everything and check Fax Services. After a Configuring Components window
does it's thing, an "Insert Disk" window comes up asking me to put my Windows
XP Professional Service Pack 2 CD in my D: drive. When I do that and click
OK then I get a "Files Needed" window saying that "Some files on Windows XP
Professional Service Pack 2 CD are needed." It prompts me to copy files from
D:\i386, but it won't go any further.

The first time or two it gave me the option of downloading and installing
the component from Window's website, but that just forced me to install an
upgrade or two and reconfigured some settings, but left me with nowhere to go
to install the fax component.

I'm currently running XP Pro Version 2002 SP 2 on my Dell laptop.

Any advice would be appreciated.

You know what? Forget it. I've read through and tried some of the proposed
solutions but Windows just takes me from one problem to another to another...
It's just not worth the time and trouble. I'll buy a third party solution.

Thanks anyway.
