Cannot Read Yamaha CDRW Drive in Windows XP

I cannot access my Yamaha CDRW Drive in Windows XP with a normal start-up.
When I enter Safe Mode - I can read CDs with the drive with no problems.

I updated the firmware from Yamaha's web site. I still have the same issue?

Any suggestions?

Remove all Devices from the Secondary IDE channel ( Ribbon Cable ) Rt
click on MyComputer>select Properties>
Hardware>Device Manager>IDE ATAPI Controllers>rt click on Secondary and
choose Uninstall. Restart let XP reinstall it and then shutdown. Connect the
Yamaha Drive to the Secondary IDE channel as Master. Startup.
