Lost CDRW and DVD Drives

I installed new ram the other day, and had to reset the BIOS in order to do
so. Now I have lost my CDRW and DVD drives, they get boot error : the Sec
Master is ATAPI Incompatible followed by the Sec Salve is ATAPI Incompatible.
I can boot into Windows and see them correctly installed in the Device
Manager, but they are only listed as CDROMS in My Computer and I can not
access any disks with them.
I have tried everything that I can think of, I can't update the firmware on
the CDRW, because the update doesn't seem to work, and I don't want to get
into the hassel of updating the DVD firmware.

Should I update the BIOS? I'm so lost!

Details of system
MotherBoard : ADM K7S5A Pro ECS Elitegroup
512 Ram
XP Pro SP2
IDE1 Master 10 Gig
IDE1 Slave 80 Gig

IDE2 Master Yamaha 2200 CDRW
IDE2 Slave Ultra HGI-40 DVD

Has boot error above, and also when a disk is put in the drive it says that
: The disk structure is corrupted and unaccessable.

I have also tried a third CDRW by LG and it did the same thing.

BIOS I have set to Auto detect upon boot for the drives, and have also tried
detecting in the BIOS and saving those settings.
I always get the same error : ATAPI Incompatible.

This happened sometime ago for me, and I could just hit F1 and everything
would be fine. And when I initially put on SP2 I had the same problems, but
fixed it by just setting one drive as a Master and the other as Slave.

I did also have Nero installed, so today I removed Nero, and deleted the
ATAPI file from sys32/drivers.

None of this has worked. Arggggg... Please help.

I got the same problem, i have a cdrw and DVD rom installed and get the
message that the file system is corrupt or comes up blank, I was getting this
message b4 i installed SP2 and also after.... I go into device manager and
go to drive properties and populate the drive and it tells me that the
Partion Style is (MBR) and tells me the size of the disc... so i am thinking
it is a software issue that has casused it, as I have installed 2 new drives
and get the smae message.. any help plz TIA

Thanks for the effort, neither link applies. I think something is wrong with
the IDE2 port. I can get one of the drives to work if I set it up as a slave
on the main hard drive.
I'm still gonna fiddle... but will probally just drop back to one HD and the
CDRW.

Thanks again for the suggestions.
