Cannot logon to secure websites

Any attempt results in a "Cannot find server" message. I
use IE version 6.0, update SP 1, 128 bit. I have tried all
of the standard fixes with no positive result. Microsoft
did find an update error # 0x800c0005. I was directed to
Run CMD. It came back with "Cannot find CMD file". This is
where I am now.. HELP.
