Can't access secure sites with ie6.0

Brand new laptop, Win XP Pro, ie6.0 128-bit encryption level...cannot access
any secure sites (bank, etc.), anything with https://

My bank says I need 128-bit encryption and Service Pack 1. I have it but it
doesn't solve the problem.

MS knowledge base says I need 128-bit encryption or my user profile is
corrupt. I created a new admin user and tried logging on with it...same
problem.

I'm finding alot of people with the same problem in the last week. Also,
when trying to do a Windows Update I get an error - 0x800C0005. Many people
also had this same problem at the same time that they can't access secure
sites.

Tried Netscape browser and also can't access same sites, which makes me
think it's a Windows problem, not ie6.0

Any help out there???

Running a firewall? If so, does it permit HTTPS communciations (port 443
for both TCP and UDP)?

Google for DrTCP and use it to reduce your packet size to
1458. I think the default is 1498.
