Cannot logon / auto loggoff

When I try to loggon using any of four user accounts I
automatically get logged off and return to the loggon
screen. I have tried all the options in the setup screen,
such as Safe mode and last known good logon. I cannot
even get to a Start menu of any kind.
Can anyone help me?
