Hi Everyone,
Here is my problem. I can't log on to my Windows XP pro computer at work
from home (Remote Desktop). Before upgrading my PC’s I had an older version
of XP pro at work and MS Windows 98 on my home computer and the remote
function worked great… (everything else is the same, IPs, routers, etc.
except that I now have Norton Anti-Virus 2005 on both machines, previously I
had an older version of Norton on both machines)
 I have MS Windows XP Pro Version 2002 with Service Pack 2 on both my home
and office computer… I am signed on as an Administrator on both PCs.
 Home Computer is connected directly to the internet (cable). I have set
up a VPN to connect to my office PC with the Office PC’s IP address…
 Office Computer is on a LAN and it’s part of a WORKGROUP, it is not a part
of a domain. The LAN is
wired to Linksys router (firewall). The office has a static IP and is
connected to a cable IP. I have entered the IP address, subnet mask, default
gateway, Preferred and Alternate DNS server addresses on my office PC. I
have followed all other instructions on both PCs for setting up the Remote
Desktop.
The Linksys router (firewall) has the correct port for listening for remote
desktop and I have turned off the MS XP Pro firewall on both PCs.
I am at a lose as to what to try next. Any suggestions would be
appreciated…
