PLEASE HELP - REMOTE DESKTOP PROBLEM

I really need some help. I can't seem to get the remote desktop to work. I
receive the message 'The Client could not connect to the remote
computer....try later'. Here is what I have: 1. Client uses Windows XP
Home 2. Remote uses Windows XP Pro in a workgroup connected to a router 3.
I have workgroups and no domain so I know the IP adress and that is what is
entered for the computer name instead of a real name. 4. Remote Desktop is
installed on the XP Home system 5. I have been through the remote and
client computer Microsoft instruction setups (Firewall settings, etc) 6.
My ISP is Comcast 7. The computer connected to the Comcast modem is a
Windows XP Home machine with a Linksys router that connects my Windows XP Pro
(remote computer I trying to connect to) computer. 8. I went into the
Linksys router and allowed port forwarding 9. I've been on Comcast for a
long time and my IP address is always the same so I believe I already have a
static IP address. I've checked it multiple days/times for verification.
10. I do not have a VPN. IDEAS PLEASE!!!!

"8. I went into the Linksys router and allowed port forwarding"

'Allowed' or set it to forward port 3389 to the internal IP address of said
Windows XP Professional machine?

I checked and I did not have that disabled so I disabled it and tried the
remote access again but it still received the ''The Client could not connect
to the remote

Thanks for your response. I did enable the port forwarding to the remote
computer for which I am attempting to access. I did not have the 'Block
Anonymous Wan Requests' turned off but I did this tonight and I just tried to
access it again and I received the same message. I think I am so close. Do
you have any other ideas? Thanks so much!!!
