Cannot get into my Hotmail and Yahoo Inboxes using a Wi-Fi router

I recently got a new laptop and initially successfully set it up to
access the internet through a friend's wireless router. I then set up
the laptop to access the internet using my workplace's ethernet
(internet, file and print sharing) connection.

Now, when I went back to the wireless router, I could surf OK, but I
can no longer get into my Hotmail or Yahoo account inboxes. I can
usually login, but when I click the inbox or "Get Mail" button, the
computer doesn't open the page and eventually gets timed out with a
message about "server or DSN error." Strangely, I can access most
everything else that I have tried.

I can still access Hotmail and Yahoo using dial-up and the ethernet
cable, but not through this Netgear router...

It seems like this problem is kinda common, but I haven't yet seen a
solution!!
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Does the router have keyword blocking on it(for blocking of websites with
certain words in them)? On my router it does have this feature and when I
turn it on you can no longer get into hotmail and yahoo as the router blocks
it. Once I turn the keyword blocking off, it lets me in.

It is a problem with your router settings. Go to the WAN settings and
change MTU from 1500 to 1428. I got it working this way.
Good Luck!
