Cannot create a VPN connection

When I try to create a VPN connection, the only options are to create a Dial UP connection to the Internet and to Accept Incoming connections. All other options (Dial up to private network, VPN, and Connect Directly to another computer) are all greyed out. Any thoughts??

Hi

Maybe this will be of help:

Problem:
========
All other options (Dial up to private network, VPN, and Connect Directly to
another computer) are all greyed out.

Resolution:
==========
In a normal Windows 2000 computer there should only be 3 dll's in the
Windows
directory:

12/06/1999 08:00p 94,784 twain.dll
12/06/1999 08:00p 44,816 twain_32.dll
12/06/1999 08:00p 20,240 vmmreg32.dll

What we have seen is that the connections folder is called by explorer
which by
default uses it's current directory(windows)to look for dll's. We have
customers
who have older dll's in the windows directory and some of these
rasapi32.dll for
example can cause the greyed out problem.

This is what I would suggest doing

1. Click start, run, type CMD.EXE and make sure you can get to a CMD
prompt. Don't
use command.com
2. Type set and hit enter
3. Check the path - Let me know what it is.
4. Change to the c:\windows directory do a dir *.dll in the c:\windows
directory.

5. Rename any dll's to *.old and see if the connection folder issue goes
away.

If this fails try

To resolve this issue, use the following steps:
1. Make a backup copy of the following registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Telephony
2. Delete the following value:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Telephony\Cards\
NextID

3. Quit and then restart the Make a Connection Wizard. All of the network
connection options should now be available.

NOTE: The "Accept Incoming calls" option is dependent on the user's
privileges.

Thanks for your reply. I tried what you suggested but
there are still problems here..

1) There is no C:\WINDOWS directory, I am assuming you
mean c:\WINNT here

2) The path is:
Path=C:\WINNT\system32;C:\WINNT;C:\WINNT\system32
\WBEM;C:\Program Files\ATI Technologies\ATI Control
Panel;C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\MGISHA~1\Video

3) Renaming the DLLs to .old did nothing, and deleting the
registry key also did nothing...

Here are the DLLs that are in the C:\WINNT directory

ftpmgr.dll
ftppro2k.dll
ftppro32.dll
GoogleToolbar2.dll
hpzjut01.dll
icccodes.dll
kpcp32.dll
kpsys32.dll
mfc42.dll
mickey32.dll
msvcirt.dll
Msvcrt.dll
nsftpch.dll
pfpick.dll
REGLOCS.dll
scheduler.dll
sprof32.dll
sslsvc.dll
tls704d.dll
twaintec.dll
vmmreg32.dll
wsbho2k0.dll
wsffind.dll
wsfirscr.dll
wsfsync.dll
wsftpctl.dll
wsftpext.dll
wsftpsi.dll
wshosts.dll

So I am pretty much stuck with the same issue here...

Thanks.
