Cannot activate/play inserted object/sound by double click

I cannot play an inserted sound file by clicking on the icon and then double
clicking as instructed by the msg. at the bottom of the screen. It works
just fine on my other computer with the same Office program installed. I
have reinstalled the program twice. I can play/activate it by sound
recorder/play and by edit/wave sound object/play on the document itself.
Help please. Thanks

THis is not so much a Word issue as a Windows issue and probably reflects
the actions associated with the sound file extension. Check what application
is associated with the sound file and what the default action is from
Windows Explorer > Tools > Folder Options > File Types. Compare the settings
with those of the system that works and make them the same.

Thank you Graham for your input. I took my computer to a computer repair shop. They charged me $40.0 for 5 minutes of bench time. The reason that it would not play is that I had the "click" set on the fastest setting so the program did not recognize the double click. They reduced my click speed and everything works fine. Just thought I would make this post so if someone else has a similar problem they know of a possible fix. Thanks again for your efforts.
