How do I add new object types?

I am unable to select "Wave Sound" as an object type when trying to follow
the Office 2007 "Tips & Tricks" instructions to insert a sound in Word 2007
because it is not one of the possible choices.

Here's the instruction: "In the Object dialog box, on the Create New tab, in
the list of object types, select Wave Sound." [Next instruction:] "Click OK,
and then record your own voice note."

I think I've installed all Word 07 components. Why is "Wave Sound" not an
option and how do I add it to become one?

If you're using Windows Vista rather than Windows XP the Vista Sound recorder may not offer the Wave choice in
Insert=>Object=>Object=>Create New.

The Vista sound recorder defaults to 'Windows Media Audio' .WMA file type.
If you're using Vista 64 bit the Sound recorder tip may not work with Word 2007.
