I finally took the plunge and upgraded to Service Pack 2. Nothing is wrong
with sp2 or Media Player 9, but I would like to revert to Media Player 8 if
possible. Despite trying every possible fix I could find online --including
a dubious standalone wmp8 installer-- Windows always reruns some type of
media setup wizard that results in wmp9 being installed. Long story short:
is it possible to run wmp8 on sp2, or is wmp9 (or greater) an absolutely
integral component of sp2? I suspect the latter but I've never seen an
answer to that specific question anywhere on the interwebs. Thanks!
